Shanghai Shanghai introduces you to their Chinese Dim Sum Culture. Dim Sum refers to a style of Chinese food prepared as small bite-sized or individual portions of food traditionally served in small steamer baskets or on small plates. Dim sum is also well known for the unique way it is served in well decorated Chinese restaurants, fully cooked and ready-to-serve dim sum dishes are carted around the restaurant for customers to choose their orders while seated at their tables.

Eating dim sum at a restaurant is usually known in Cantonese as going to "drink tea" (yum cha), as tea is typically served with dim sum. The unique culinary art of dim sum originated with the Cantonese in southern China, who transformed Dim Sum to a relaxing and happy dining experience centuries ago. In Hong Kong and in cities and towns in Guangdong province, many restaurants start serving dim sum as early as five in the morning. The more traditional dim sum restaurants such as Shanghai Shanghai typically serve dim sum until mid-afternoon.

At Shanghai Shanghai, all the dim sum is prepared freshly in-house daily as early as 6am, being made and served on the day. A wide variety of Dim Sum dishes is served from 11:30AM to 5:00PM, 7 days a week including bank holiday. Shanghai Shanghai traditional dim sum brunch includes various types of steamed Dim Sum, such as cha siu dumplings, steamed king prawn dumplings with bamboo shoots & rice noodle rolls (cheong fun). Shanghai Shanghai range of Dim Sum contains a large range of ingredients such as beef, chicken, pork, prawns and vegetarian options, also offering plates of steamed green vegetables, roasted meats, congee porridge and many soups to accompany this with dim sum desserts also available for like customary egg tart & sweet water chestnut jelly cake.
